Make and Wear a Coat This Fall! 9/16– 10/28 (7 classes), Mondays: 4:30- 6 OR  6:30- 8.   COST: $30 per 90min class + materials (materials include: pattern, fabric, thread, interfacing) Ask me for coast saving options and details!  Course Objective: In this comprehensive sewing course, participants will embark on a transformative journey from fabric selection to the creation of a tailored women's coat complete with lining, tailored to their desired size (ranging from 4 to Plus38). Through hands-on instruction and practical guidance, students will acquire essential sewing skills and techniques applicable to a variety of future projects. Key Learning Outcomes: 1. Commercial Pattern Proficiency: Students will learn to interpret and utilize commercial sewing patterns effectively, gaining the ability to adapt patterns to their specific measurements and design preferences. 2. Fabric Selection and Preparation: A field trip to a fabric store will provide students with firsthand experience in selecting suitable fabrics for their coat projects. Guided by the instructor, participants will learn to discern fabric qualities and make informed choices. 3. Cutting and Construction Techniques:  From pinning and cutting fabric pieces to assembling them into a cohesive garment, students will receive step-by-step instruction in sewing techniques crucial for achieving professional-quality finishes. 4. Coat Construction with Lining: Guided by detailed demonstrations, participants will learn how to construct a women's coat with a lining, mastering techniques such as setting sleeves, attaching linings, and finishing seams neatly. 5. Skill Application Across Projects: The skills and knowledge acquired in this course will empower students to confidently undertake future sewing projects beyond coats, applying learned techniques to diverse garment styles and accessories. 6. Creative and Supportive Environment:  With small class sizes catering to varying skill levels, participants will benefit from a supportive and collaborative atmosphere, ideal for networking with like-minded individuals and sharing creative insights. By the course's conclusion, students will have not only crafted a personalized women's coat but also gained a solid foundation in sewing fundamentals, enabling them to pursue their sewing passions with skill and creativity.
